Today was the last day in a while that we won’t be busy in school with lots of activities so we took the chance to get out and tick a job off our to-do list. We had a morning assembly and then Becci and I headed out to Wales to film a video that we’d planned to shoot before lockdown. Our theme was facing fears.

Much as I love hill and mountain walking, I am terrified of heights and climbing and scrambling and basically anything with any level of exposure. Today was all about putting myself in the safe hands of my trusty teammate and fighting my fears.

I’ve dreamt about ridges the last couple of nights and felt fairly sick this morning. However, had I known how bad it was going to be, I don’t think I’d have slept at all. It was pretty sketchy in places and I’d be still out there, frozen on a rock if it wasn’t for Becci’s expert help and calm guidance. Bless her, she even had to rope me up at one point, which I don’t think she even had to do when she brought teenagers up here.

Having said all that, and despite the terror, it’s been a glorious day. The sun was bright this morning and then the clouds moved in this afternoon. Great conditions to film in.

A burger and a beverage on the way home and an early night ready for another early start for more assemblies tomorrow.
