Monday Braai
I had an appointment at Brentwood Nuffield hospital, 50 miles away, at 9 o'clock thiis morning, to have a block mucus gland cut out of my gum. The nurse set everything up, donned her plastic apron, the consultant run in, asked if I saw the dentist since our last appointment, (I didn't know that I was supposed to ), stuck his finger in my mouth, said he doesn't think it is necesary to do the op, the nurse gave me a copy of his letter to the dentist and I was out of there. Two hours' drive to have a chat with a nurse about the weather.
I am glad he didn't do the op, just for the sake of doing it, but it would have been better if someone (ie the consultant or the dentist) told me that another look at the teeth (rather than the gum) was needed to confirm whether the op would solve the problem.
As I didn't have a sore month and the sun was shining we had a braai for tea.
