We did a wonderful 12k walk at Covehithe today, the weather couldn't have been more perfect, there was a sea mist but when we came inland there was a welcome gentle breeze.
This is St Andrews church in the hamlet of Covehithe, population approx 20!! It was a thriving sea port in the 16th century but by the 17th century it was a victim of coastal erosion. The large church built on the wealth of the port was largely destroyed apart from the tower and a smaller church was built in the ruins in 1672.
Erosion caused the loss of 500 metres of land between the 1830's and 2001 according to Ordnance Survey maps.
