Predator
A baking hot day here. There have been lots of sightings of the rare migrant Long Tailed Blue butterfly on Whitehawk Hill in Brighton and a sighting in Lewes so I went up Blackcap, roughly halfway between the two, in the hope that they might be 'hill topping' there too. Alas no LTBs but I did see a male Brown Hairstreak, my 41st butterfly species of the year. I didn't manage to photograph it as it disappeared over a barbed wire fence before I could get close enough. So here instead is an elderly Common Darter munching on a moth of some kind. Last year's LTB blip is here.
