Brambles

Having brought the paper bags of bulbs count down into single figures and done some useful sorting of other bulbs and plants that were needing attention, I took some time off to go blackberry picking.   Good timing as there was a nice mix of newly ripe and nearly ripe fruit in the hedgerows just outside town.    A formidable aunt always used to say that you need half red, half black for the best bramble jelly so my labours should have a good outcome.   It was early evening by the time I had filled my bowl and I encountered a couple of these chaps resting docile among the berries.
