Ready for the off
Today we went to Whixall Moss, it was a very hot day. Near the car park a large number of house martins were lined up on the telephone wires before returning to southern and west Africa. Every so often they'd all take off and whirl around the sky before returnng to their wires (all very equally socially distanced).
We walked around the Moss but there was very little to see, not even the usually regular birds. There were a few dragonflies and butterflies but the most prolific were the biting insects that made a meal of me despite the midge repellant that I'd applied!
Some of the bracken was turning golden as illustrated by my extra.
