Pie-eyed
There really is something about pies. Satisfying to make (especially if you buy the puff pastry), aesthetic to view (that lovely golden brown of the egg), and amazing to eat. This was a pie largely concocted with the remains of the very hot "tagine" that Mr A made on Wednesday (main ingredients lentils and cauliflower), combined with a very small quantity of (lamb) mince and onions. It was really like a curry pie, and it was bloody delicious.
Other than that we had an unremarkable day. I spent some time on the spinning bike first thing, then had a work-related zoom (the 'plenary' of the conference/edited book project), where one of the participants was on his mobile phone on a train, and kept showing us his ear as he tried to listen to the proceedings (should have switched the camera off....). We called round to hazelh and mr hazelh to drop off a couple of plants, and then I walked home via the supermarket to purchase the aforementioned puff pastry.
After pie, we watched The Professor and the Madman on Prime, and then the Kennah-Mason concert from the Proms (sublime music and less-than-sublime accompanying chat from Tom Service).
Oh, I forgot to say that earlier on I caught up with some photo-editing, and made a further album on flickr to highlight how I continue to see our 'new' world.
