Coucou
Feels like I've been off school for ages...well, the last time I was in school was for an hour on Thursday! So back into class details...I started with the sixième INTER, and comme l'habitude, as lovely as ever. It is so nice to see a class that truly does function in English, rather than English as a foreign language. I think it is because there are more of them with Anglophone origins.
In contrast, I then went to work with a normal troisième class...and the difference in levels is pretty much immediately obvious! Unfortunately, the work that the teacher had prepared for the class was on her desk at home...so it was a panicked five minutes of brainstorming before we decided how we were going to fill the suddenly empty hour! And trust me, that hour seems more than empty when you have nothing to do with a class of fifteen year olds. So they are working on "Protest Songs" at the moment, so we managed to continue with their translation and understanding of the songs. However, that panic moment always gives you that little bit of adrenaline!
My final class of the day was with two troisième INTER pupils, in preparation for their speaking exams. I was impressed with one of them, who is particularly quiet in class around the other students, yet with me they suddenly came alive...we spoke altogether for half an hour on the films they liked and disliked, with me speaking minimally. Seeing them improve really does make me feel my job is justified. I don't know whether I could imagine myself doing any other sort of career now...
After school I met up with Baptiste...and boy, we never have a dull moment in our lives! If it isn't him with the drama, it's me! It does mean we always have things to talk about, and that's what I love so much about him. And yes, I know, I saw Baptiste and didn't take a photograph (which is really hard not to do!)...and yes, it pained me to not - as the light was perfect. As soon as a visitor from England visits, it rains...as soon as they leave, it is sunny. How does that work? I decided I needed to start doing a bit more scenery, as well as portraits...hence today's photograph, taken after my coffee with Baptiste. My eye got distracted by the light emanating from the alleyway, and the colours were quite pretty too!
My evening was spent with the girls, well; Kendra, Laura and Becky in Tour Solidor...I swear we go in there so much now that we are recognised by the bar staff! Well I now get greeted with Salut rather than Bonsoir! Lovely end to an interesting day.
