Derwentwater panorama
Aiming to practice some of the methods John showed on our monochrome workshop. This is a panorama of two images from a small wooded hill above Keswick, looking toward the South end of the lake.
We did try going to Buttermere, but the parking was all taken by the time we arrived and the behaviour of some of the other drivers was really quite awful - parking in passing places etc - I give up!
I couldn't get high enough to have some separation between the small island and the shore so I have had to clone out a little corner of it. Aside from that the processing is relatively simple, mono converted, then just a graduated selection over the sky to add a curves layer for contrast, and a similar selection over the far hills to give them a little more 'bite' too.
Looks better large on black.
We had some interesting news this morning, our son's girlfriend has woken with a persistent cough and so has to be swab tested. She can't go to work until the results are known (assuming they are negative) so she and Rachel are both in the same boat, on the same weekend, never having been in the same room!
Thanks to everyone who has visited my journal recently - our new (to us) Huawei 3/4G to WiFi widget seems to be working well so I should be able to get round to returning the favour at some point :-)
