I know the queues may be quite long, and slow moving, but I hadn't thought taking spare fuel would be necessary...

Last week I made the mistake of thinking, "Haven't had many monitors repairs for a while." Two yesterday, and another one today. Must have fixed over seventy of them now. Suspect the newer LED types will be more reliable. Then again, if folk would turn them off (at the mains socket), they'd last substantially longer. The most time they're required to operate in a week is likely to be less than fifty hours. And the vast majority of them are left on standby for the rest of the week - i.e. at least 118 hours. That wastes power, and shortens their lives... unless you can repair them (but there's a cost there too). They're also potential fire risks. Something to bear in mind when you leave numerous things on standby, all over the house...

I know, "What a cheery bugger!" I did have quite a good day. Even had a wee wander at lunchtime. Was surprised to see four Long-tailed ducks on the River Ness. There are loads of them further along the coast, around the Nairn area. And some in the Cromarty Firth too. But I've never seen them so close to we humans before, or on fresh water. Suspect they may be moulting. Wrong lens of course, to capture a decent shot.

There was no-one policing the backroad this morning. Normally it's fairly quiet, with just a few regular folk driving along it. Much busier today, with at least ten folk suspected of ignoring the temporary ban. That being just whilst I cycled it. Maybe I should stop and take out the camera. That'll get them worried...
