Bizarre Bourton on the water

Wanting to visit the centre of the Cotswolds we decided to do a day trip to Bourton on the water incorporating a long walk (in the heat of the day).  Starting out in Lower Slaughter we followed a frustratingly inconsistent trail on our phones.  9 miles later I was exhausted and fed up by the time we reached Bourton OTW and wasn’t prepared for the sudden, inexplicable experience of people as far as the eye could see.  

Every second shop sold fish and chips or ice cream and everything smelled of  poo (fertiliser?).  Hardly anyone was wearing masks.  It was quite dreadful - the busiest place I’ve been in 7 months and I couldn’t wait to get out.
