Finding summer
We headed to the seaside today on the East coast as we haven’t been all year. Think we rediscovered summer as it was so busy we couldn’t park in the main car park. We did manage to park for free on the cliff top road and walked down to the promenade.
It wasn’t too busy when we got down there but there are obviously lots of people out enjoying the warm but rather cloudy ‘summer’ weather still, even some in the sea.
We found an outdoor table for coffee and then walked along the pier.
We spotted the place where we wanted to have lunch and asked what the dining situation was. We were told we could have a table in half an hour and they took out phone number to contact us when it was available. Great so we do inured our walk to the end of the bay passing the long, socially distanced queue for the take away.
We had delicious fish and chips and the queue continued the whole time we were there, testament to their quality as there are several fish restaurants.
When we came out of the restaurant the blue sky that you can see in the blip, out to sea, had arrived and with the sun out it was quite hot.
We continued down the coast to Staithes, probably my favourite village. Parking problems again. Not that we couldn’t park but in two different car parks we failed to get a ticket. We had no change, the first machine was going to charge £10 for,24 hours if you paid on the phone and the second we couldn’t get it to work with either the phone at a card - note to self always bring cash even though no body else is taking it.
We managed an on street 30 minute park and got down the steep main street and back In 26 minutes! We didn’t even think about stopping at Runswick Bay!
Nice to feel a touch of summer again and despite parking issues we’ve had a lovely day out.
Really hard to chose a blip so added a Flickr link for the others taken today
