When you need a blip....
.....sometimes two arrive to help you out. This morning I did my first stained glass workshop and learnt how to cut glass in straight lines and curves and cut out individual pieces using different methods. It was really good, I was a bit anxious re Covid precautions and people following them, but they mainly did. This afternoon I did a little bit in the garden, but I was really tired and it was very humid, so I called it a day when I heard thunder. I'd forgotten to take a photo in my workshop, so went in the garden and fortunately this dragonfly appeared. Then I went out to the recycle bin and nearly walked into the squab in extras sitting on the paving, he was gone later so I assume he got enough energy back to fly off.
Day 177 / Full Day 169 of Lockdown / Day 67 of Step 3 (for my record only)
UK deaths up 32 to 41,586 (revised basis), with new daily cases up by 2,460 and 757 patients in hospital. A very big relative increase in deaths today, which is only partly due to the old weekend delay, Cases and deaths are increasing quickly - is it a coincidence that this is around three to four weeks since A level and GCSE results and the midst of the Eat out to Help Out scheme? The Deputy CMO says people have 'relaxed too much' - a massive understatement! I have no faith in the Govt acting quickly and robustly to stop the general spread, exactly as they failed to do in March. Bizarrely, despite rising cases in France, the French Open plans to have a reduced capacity 11,500 spectators a day at the tournament starting 21st Sept.
Restrictions are tightened in Bolton, one reporter said they went from 15 to 120 cases per 100k in just two weeks. Contract tracing has identified a significant spread in a number of pubs, now all hospitality places can only do takeaways and must close between 10pm & 5am. Socialising between households is illegal. UK sees first cases of reinfection, all to date are asymptomatic but it's still not known how transmissible the virus is if you're asymptomatic.
