Snowdrops

Another example of Triumph over Adversity. These tough little snowdrops first appeared late January, before the first snow, and have managed to flower as befits their name.

I have a soft spot for these particular flowers, as the original bulbs came from my father's house in Southport. Every year, he used to have a bet with my stepmother as to when the first snowdrop would bloom. He died many years ago and now their house is sold. My stepmother and new husband have moved to Scotland. Today I decided to thin out the bulbs once they've flowered and take up a potful as a rather sentimental housewarming present.
