Biggiesknowe, the oldest street in the town

Biggiesknowe ( a corruption of bridge-house-knowe) was the centre of the burgh's hand weaving cottage industry. The older houses were built in 1796 as weavers houses and one is the birthplace of publishers William and Robert Chambers.
