unofficial end of summer

Here in the US, Labor Day has signified the end of summer. After Labor Day the kids are back in school, group activities that took a summer hiatus start up again (e.g. book club, bowling league, Bible study), and the weather turns cooler.
Of course, this year is different. The kids are still at home doing distance learning, and group activities are still limited or held on Zoom. And here in Colorado we had record breaking heat over the weekend!
But one thing has stayed the same, and that is the Cottonwood trees that are always the first to show fall colors.
