Slime Mold Beauty

Colorful, bizarre slime molds.

They are found in damp forests with decaying wood or other debris... I came upon this grouping of slime molds on a log at Larrabee Park, along the beach. My tiny son was scouring the sand with his new metal detector, and I was taking a look at the plant life around me. Red Beard was nearby skipping rocks on the water and generally having a nice relaxing time.

I get excited when I happen upon often unseen or ignored life forms carving out a niche on this planet along my path. Quietly doing their merry thing, multiplying, decaying, growing, mutating, flagellating and quietly showing themselves off.
