March the Month 25,257 steps - Day 5

A bright start to a good day, though I didn't do much. Up and out for my walk, pausing part way round to do a little "gardening" - now that the mushrooms are appearing I have a pair of scissors in my bag so that I can clear the grass from in front of the subjects, now I just need to remember to add tweezers to the bag so that I can remove those last tricky bits. On the way round I hit 75,000 steps since the beginning of the month.

After lunch it was down to real gardening, clearing some dead brambles from the end of the garden, cutting the hedge at the front of the house (green waste bin is now full), planted out some purple sprouting brocolli and brussel sprouts, cut the lawn before going round to the local greengrocers for a top up of fruit and veg and finally doing some washing (including the reuseable face masks). As I said, not much!

Stats for today's walk were 8.5 miles with a total climb of 2060 feet, with a total of 14,791 steps on the walk and the remainder of the 25,257 steps at home.

Not bad for someone with a dicky ticker, dodgy knees and dodgier prostate. The aim is to clock up in excess of 11,000 steps, 1 for every man who dies every year from Prostate Cancer in the UK. I was diagnosed with this cancer early in the lock down.

Prostate cancer is now the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the UK and each year more than 11,000 men die from the disease. The impact of the coronavirus crisis means that life-saving research is at risk. Men have never needed your support more to protect research into better tests and treatments to stop prostate cancer being a killer.

I know that due to Covid things are tough for many people out there (my own income is down by 50%), but if you can spare something please do support me.
