Flower fly

There are loads of these things on the sedums just now. They look like tiny wasps but they are syrphid flies. They have waists just like a wasp but only one pair of wings, like all flies.

the seeding was finished last night and now we await some rain. John has an idea to set up an irrigation system that he has, but I am not sure whether this will come to fruition!! Meanwhile we hope in the clouds (see extra) although they do not look very threatening!
