building a bike jump

We walked to the cave near Genoa Bay Road. We heard hammering, talking and a chainsaw. When we arrived where three fellows were working, we asked and they told us they were building a bike ramp and jump. The had shoveled lots of dirt as well as cut wood.

We walked up to it and looked around. But we could not see how a cyclist could access the bike jump. Unless he or she were to ride down the rock cliff onto the ramp.

At the bottom of the jump were large boulders and two cedar trees. Dangerous!

Let us hope they are building this ramp on municipal or crown land and not private property. Since this ramp is close to the cave, it may encroach upon Cowichan Tribes traditional lands. Google Maps has this area as Kil-Pah-Las Indian Reserve 3.

I rode along the Mount Tzouhalem trails on my mountain bike, but never over logs, ramps or jumps. I stayed on the dirt trails and gravel roads.
