Another day, another refill

Back blipping on 3rd September.

A good early start, which was just as well given the events of the rest of the day!

When we stopped for the night, we knew that our GOM (guessometer), which estimates the likely number of miles till the battery runs out, was telling us we only had 100 miles.  We have about 290 miles on 100% full battery, but it's better for battery life to try to run it between 20% and 80%.  It's also quick to recharge between those figures, much slower at the extremes.

So we set out with a plan to recharge, but on arriving at the proposed recharging station we were unable to make it work.  And the saga continued similarly for the entire day.  We variably had problems with our access to the various different chargers, or the charger was malfunctioning.  If it were not for some really helpful fellow EV drivers, we would probably still be stuck in Germany, or maybe Denmark!

EV charging at the moment is a mish mash of different networks.  As relatively early adopters, we need a number of different RFID tags, each of which is likely to need a subscription, and a number of different apps.

This photo was taken in Denmark, at our second recharge.  We had fortunately met a Tesla driver on the Puttgarden to Rødby ferry, who not only told us where to find a charger, but met us there and used his RFID tag to access it for us, and paid for our recharge!  As you can see from our GOM, we had just 29 miles of charge left at this point.

But a refill to 80% here saw us arrive at my daughter's house in Malmö with capacity to spare!

A good night's sleep, and the last 2 days are now a blur of stress and relief.

I've also back blipped for yesterday should you be interested.
