Blenheim ceiling

A fabulous building - I loved this ceiling in the Long Library, conceived by Vanbrugh and designed by Nicholas Hawksmoor. The room is 183 ft long and believed to be the second longest room in any house in England. The stucco work is by Isaac Mansfield. The queuing wasn’t too bad and it was nice to be let in in individual family groups so you could absorb with no one pushing up behind. I really enjoyed the upstairs presentation The Untold Story which used visuals to tell the story behind the 300 years of the house. We also wandered in the gardens and missed all the rain. Lovely to have a night away and meet up with my friends.
