Autumn gentian

I was pleased to see these flowers on a county wildlife site just off the A1. I picnicked here having come out on a bike ride on my mountain bike to give it a proper test run as I’m hoping to take it to Scotland for a little adventure. It was a super sunny windless afternoon and I also had a nice chat with an elderly lady botanist who like me was delighted to find the gentians here. She was quite an inspirational character, making the most under current restrictions.
