Chaiyya / Chaya

I find it difficult to take pictures of her. Being so black, she almost disappears on a dark background, and in front of a bright one you see her only as a silhouette. So when she sat on the coloured rug, I took the chance and snapped a few portraits. 

We named her Chaiyya after one of our favourite Bollywood Hindi film songs. 
But I also like to spell her name as Chaya, not just because that is easier to write. 
Chaya is a Hebrew girl's name, meaning "life". It fits our kitten well - she had such a difficult start in life. When she was found and rescued as a small kitten, she was so weak and ill, she almost did not make it. But here she is, a playful little cat, full of life, and it makes us very happy.
