Before the Rain....

There were dark clouds looking full of rain to the northwest when Maisie and I started walking early this morning. We were ahead of the rain for much of our walk. However it caught us out as we were returning to our vehicle. Luckily I carried an umbrella. Daughter Margaret, Keith and we drove to a nearby cafe for lunch. Around lunchtime the wind swung around to the southeast and the the temperature dropped dramatically. There are reports of heavy snow in the lower parts of the South Island. So much for the first day of spring.
