Brown banded carder bumblebee
This one is new to me. It is quite localised in its distribution in the south of England. But here it is in my sister’s garden! They have a patch of Black Horehound, one of the favourite nectar sources, and this is quite widespread in the area too.
It’s a lovely little bee but difficult to photograph as it only feeds for a second at each flower. Wonderful to see it thriving here.
