Chocolate Box Cottages

It was my last full day in Broadway today. After the beautiful dry sunny day yesterday it was back to rain today. My weather app said occasional showers this afternoon which didn’t sound too bad as I intended to browse around the shops and get some lunch. I walked the 15 minutes into town just before noon and it wasn’t raining yet. I took this picture as soon as I got there - I’d noticed these sweet little cottages the other day and thought them worthy of a blip.

Soon after I got there the heavens opened and it pretty much chucked it down all afternoon. I didn’t mind so much as I was in and out of shops. But my feet, clad only in sandals (‘occasional’ showers, the app said!!) did get very wet! It was also hard to find somewhere to eat because eating outside wasn’t an option and indoor dining was very busy!

In spite of all that I DID enjoy myself, and I DID find somewhere to eat. It was still raining heavily when I was finally ready to head back to my camper. So I did the obvious - went into a tea shop for tea and cake, and waited it out. Lunch and the tea and cake were all half price - almost the last day of the Mon-Wed half price eating scheme for the month of August.

The timing was perfect - the rain finally stopped as I was finishing up my treat, and I was able to walk ‘home’ without getting totally drenched. Well, except for my poor feet! There was a LOT of water around, but they were cold and wet already. I was happy to get into warm socks and shoes back at the van.

No need for a proper dinner for me tonight! It was a cosy night in with a cuppa soup and some crackers in the late evening.

Extra Photo: another collection of Cotswold doors, this time from Broadway over the last 3 days.
