Another Garden Day!
I was out in the garden early this morning and worked through till tea time with a quick break for lunch. Once I start I don't know when to stop - I'm like a woman posessed by a garden spirit!
I emptied all the pots and the two troughs and planted them up with the new Autumn/Winter flowers. It's a lovely selection that came as a set of 8 plants - I bought 2 one for each trough.
Some of the Violas were intermingled and I put the rest in 2 pots.
I dug up lots of Aquilegia which had taken over the rose and alpine bed hiding some of the small plants - I'd forgotton they were even there! Aquilegia is really pretty but it does tend to spread.
Transplanted the perpetual spinach and planted the new young Brussel's Sprout plants. I put sawdust around the bases to keep the slugs away. I hope it works - they are relentless.
I feel happy and content that I got most of the jobs done.
Tomorrow I need to empty the potato bags of the King Edwards. I took out a few that were showing at the top and they look good.
In between all this work I had quick chats with various neighbours and Bella got to play with two of her friends - Baxter the Cocker Spaniel and Barney the Bichon.
Tea was a hearty soup followed by stewed apples (our own) and Swedish Glace Ice Cream. Yum!
I had to take Ibuprofen and paracetamol afterwards as my back and feet are a bit sore...I think I may have overdone it but it's a small price to pay for such enjoyment! :-D
I won't work as much in the garden tomorrow, I need a rest day.
Hope you all had a good Bank Holiday :-)x
