The Merewether steps or the MEZ steps
These steps are a very popular spot for exercise. The boot campers are there in the morning but this evening there were only two gentleman. There are 78 steps which you can take at your own pace or alternatively, you may try this which I have extracted from a local physiotherapist's web site:
PROGRAM #3 – Mount Doom, VERY HARD, experienced stair goers and exercise “sickos” only:
30 stair repeats (yep 30), running up and down.
Descent should be 1/2 intensity of ascent
At the bottom: the following mini-circuit should be completed
10 squats
10 push ups
*if you wanna be a complete head case, throw in 5-10 burps here.
You will be pleased to know that there is a defibrillator nearby and plenty of life guards who know CPR nearby should you attempt the Mount Doom version.
