Nature Diary... Resting and Reflecting
A Peaceful Sunny Day to Rest and Reflect
A beautiful day with sunshine all day and just a hint of a chilly north wind in unsheltered places. The cloudless blue sky was a joy to see after the last few days of dark grey clouds and short, sharp downpours of torrential rain. My local Sparrows were busily making up for the food they missed during the soaking rain of the last few days which interrupted their feeding schedules.
After dead-heading some of the flowers which had gone past their best I took some photos of them in the late afternoon sunshine whilst I sat by the pond with the solar fountain dancing its happy sunlit dance, while the pond water rippled and bubbled in harmony.
As I sat surveying all I could see and listening only to the birds singing to each other and the splashing of the water fountain, it struck me how silent everything else was. No sounds of traffic. No noisy boats on the nearby sea and no sounds of people on the beach. No planes overhead flying towards Europe and none flying back. In fact it was so quiet I found myself gently drifting back half asleep to my younger self growing up in post war era when Sundays were always this quiet, shops were closed, and almost everybody stayed at home. It truly was ‘Peace in our time’.

This is a record which was given to me as a gift when I was a youngster, along with some other records of a similar era, which came with a beautiful vintage wind-up gramophone player which, along with the vintage records, I treasured for many years.
Many thanks to everyone for your visits, for your comments, and for all the stars and hearts for my photos. They're all very much appreciated.
