Life's Little Moments

Look, Ma - no wings!

Remember as a kid taking your hands off the handlebars of your bike and yelling for your mom to look?  I remember that and I think I also remember that it didn't end all that well.  But I digress...

I snapped this in the morning when the light was low.  I purposely used a slow shutter speed of 1/500 to see if I could make the wings disappear.  Fun fact about hummingbirds - their wings don't actually beat; they move in a circle 8 rotation which is what allows them to fly in any direction or hover in place.  And, they rotate at up to 80 times per second!  Which is why you need a faster shutter speed to stop the motion.  You can see a shot of a female with wings almost frozen HERE where I used a shutter of 1/1250

Hubs and I spent a very enjoyable hour or so on the phone with my parents this morning.  They've been getting out every day and walking which keeps them both in good spirits and good health.  They are avoiding people and wearing their masks and doing all they can to stay safe.

The rest of the day has been spent pottering and working on getting things ready for our departure tomorrow afternoon.  Hubs is heading out now for a bike ride and I am going to gather up some things to take out to the motor home.  It's cool and pleasant out today for a change.  Very nice!

Please take a page from my parents' book and stay safe.  And don't forget to be kind and loving, please.
