Saturday: Coffee Sandwiches

We left Prince George shortly after 9am and headed north to Fort St John, a journey of about 5 1/2 hours.  En route we stopped off at the Bijoux Falls and the WAC Bennett dam.

The road was interesting and varied, mainly forested or farmland.  At Chetwynd, we took the road that took us along the Peace River for the remainder of the drive.

We had our first wildlife encounter when we disturbed a golden eagle on the road, absorbed in some roadkill.  It swooped up and across the car, nearly filling the whole windscreen with its wingspan.  Luckily we didn’t hit it, but it did drop some of its roadkill which is now stuck to our front number plate.

Both Prince George and Fort St John are interesting, but not attractive.  Northern BC towns are very different to what you find in the lower mainland.  FSJ is blessed with two microbreweries, though, ‘Mighty Peace’ and ‘Beard’s’, both of which were very good.

It was pretty cold and rainy so we had dinner near our hotel in the sportiest Sports Bar we have ever been in.  I have never seen so many screens, showing so many different sports.  Excellent Mac n’ cheese though.

Couple of extras:
- Stellar Blue Jay
- Bijoux Falls
- Church in Hudson’s Hope
