Dressing up and making friends in France

Both these pictures were taken during Lorna's family's visit to the World War I battlefields of Northern France in 1920.

In the shot on the right Lorna's brother Theo, aged just eight but dressed as a mini-adult, places a protective arm over his six year-old sister's shoulder.

The boy in the pictures on the left looks too small to be Theo. It appears that Lorna might be being encouraged to shake hands in friendship with him. We thought that the rabbit mask might be a sign that the visit to France took place at Easter time, but the Easter bunny is not a symbol of Easter in France. Perhaps this encounter took place at another festival?
