Paestum

This Greek temple in Paestum( Poseidon) in southern Italy was built 2500 years ago - the area flooded in 600AD ( approx) and was a swamp with mosquitos and malaria and became uninhabitable. Mussolini drained it all and the land is incredibly fertile and grows a vast array of fruit and veg. As the climate was very hot ( 35 degrees today) they brought over black water buffaloes from India and this is where the buffalo mozzarella comes from. Wonderful place to visit. 3 great Doric style temples.
