Cottage window view day 3
Ireland day 3
Our day started out in Limerick.
On leaving the hotel we headed up stream to visit the 13th century King John’s Castle. Passing the life size bronze statue depicting the dockers at work from a time gone by.
After a stop for breakfast we cross the Thomond bridge and get our first glimpse of the castle sitting on Kings Island which lies between the river Shannon and the smaller river Abbey.
Retracing our steps over the bridge we came across the cleverly transformed facades of abandoned buildings that were last inhabited almost 40 years ago.
Leaving Limerick we head towards the small picturesque village of Adare. With it’s picture postcard Main Street of thatched cottages and medieval buildings. The village sits on the banks of the river Maigue.
We continue on our way and leave County Clare and head towards Killarney and our holiday cottage, where we will stay for the rest of our holiday.
