Regiment of Trees

Following the BBC Breakfast article earlier in the week covering Hidden Gems in Surrey, I set out this afternoon to find the one in Langley Vale Centenary Wood.
It is a Woodland Trust Project to honour the war dead, whilst also acting as a nature reserve too.
Part of the Project is Jutland Wood where 6097 trees have been planted to remember the 6097 British sailors lost in the Battle of Jutland.
The Regiment of Trees has 12 stone soldier sculptures and 80 trees at a site where Lord Kitchener visited.
The Woodland Trust has created a flagship Centenary Wood in each of the UK's countries providing a living legacy to all those affected by the First World War. Brackfield Wood in Northern Ireland; Dreghorn Woods in Scotland; and Coed Ffos Las in Wales.
