New York State of Mind

These are Rothko postcards which hang in my apartment. I got them when I lived in New York for an extended period of time almost 10 year ago now. I love the colours.

Been watching the HBO series GIRLS, which is a must see, and it has brought back memories of my time as a young spritely intern in New York, working essentially for free.
I sewed buttons to samples under the mood lighting in one of the rooms of the Mercer Hotel in Soho, delivered fur jackets to the editor of German Elle magazine for her to wear to fashion week, and dressed models behind the scene at the launch of Willie Ninja's modeling agency...

...also had too much to drink, too quickly, at same event since the open bar only lasted an hour by the time we were done out the back. I think I recall there was frantic dancing, missed subway stops, bad midnight New York pizza and possibly ending with some intimate times with the toilet porcelain...

This weekend someone told me 'you dance like a slut'... um... thanks... clearly some things never change. S.
