Water Of Leith
Clutching umbrellas, we went for a walk by the Water of Leith from Murrayfield to the Belford Bridge, to note the height of the water following the recent rain. The water was muddy but the level had already dropped by several inches.
This photo is taken of the weir at The Cauldron (a name I have just discovered), where there is also an AIDS Memorial, and features the first of the six Antony Gormley statues placed at several locations in the river between here and Leith.
There was little visible wildlife except for a single female goosander braving the fast current but a bonus for me was a fleeting sight of a kingfisher.
