The perils of pedals
Matt and I had arranged a bike ride which involves a pub. Good plan. Matt suggested I get some proper clipless ( which mean clip in ) pedals. So I did. This means my feet are fixed to the pedals, which means I have to remember to unclip before stopping.
I had a little practise in the garden, seemed to go fairly well, clipping in, riding a bit, in clipping putting my foot down.
So off we went, over hills, through villages and woods. It was all going swimmingly. Clip in, ride a bit, clip out, stop. Easy.
Until we reached a bridge, there was small step up. No bother I thought I’ll hop up that ( Matt has sensibly got off ). The hop wasn’t high enough and so I stopped, without unclipping. It didn’t end well. Nettles, thorns, bruises, blood. At least Matt didn’t laugh, well until he’d checked I was ok.
We set off again, and then Matt got a puncture so we retired to the pub, where H and T were having dinner. A quick pint and then El kindly came to pick us up.
All good fun although my knee is looking quite swollen.
