Bog-stars

We went for a wander around the Winster Valley to pick blackberries and see what we could find - this is Grass of Parnassus, a stunning flower of marshy areas where it was flowering alongside the small blue scabious. Apparently when the plant was named by Linnaeus 'he may have been making a link between the beauty of the flower and the home of Apollo'. The name Bog-stars hasn't got the same charm, but I do like the Swedish name Slatterblomma, meaning hay-making flower.
