Happy New Year

I took my camera on my errands in town hoping to snap a building or something that caught my eye - I was in the centre just in time to see the opening ceremony to the celebration for the Chinese New Year.

I thought I'd got my snap of the day but it was only upon processing it that I realised it wasn't as sharp as I hoped and the background was very distracting, no good crops seem to be fixing the issue.

Then I remembered what I had been meaning to do for a long time and highlight the colour in a picture by making the rest black and white - the idea I actually had in mind was with a red telephone box and have even tracked down a few in the peak district ready for me to head out and take them - I think that would have been an easier one for my first time! The editing around the detail of the dragon was tricky, so it is by no means perfect, but not too bad for a first attempt.

I am still in two minds about how must I want to do in post production, but I do like the effect this gives...
