Captain's Logbook

Jiving in the lounge.

I had this idea today - a day late for the "Guilty Pleasure" entry for the February challenge. Years ago Mrs W and I took it in turns to choose an evening course to go on one day a week. After the wine tasting course (my choice) it was learning to jive (her choice). So I ended up (terrified) in a jive class.

It turned out that - once I had got over the horror of it all - it was good fun. We went on to do the advanced class. I carried on with another class in North London. I started a rock'n'roll club in the kids school. Now I teach Jive n Swing - mostly to kids but sometimes to adults.

So my guilty pleasure is loud and yowlin' rock'n'roll music and tossing the girls around. The boys would often walk into the kitchen to see dad bopping with his headphones on while cooking the spag. bol. for tea, "dancing Dad" became my nickname.
