Death and taxes
My English class today (12 trainees* at a supplier to Lidl/Aldi, I forget which) ...after teaching them all about the meaning of 'to kick the bucket' we moved on to a story I'd heard on my way there, a guy had had a large amount of money turn up in his account in error and the bank who made the error have come asking for it back, he says he has spent most of it gambling and on prostitutes (neither of which will give you a receipt). We discussed what they'd do in the same situation, unsurprisingly none of the 12 was keen to hand the cash back immediately and when I asked why none of them would give any of it to charity I was told that as it couldn't be given above board it wouldn't be possible to offset the donation against taxes...
* they're young, some just finished school this summer
