"Þorrablót"-season in Iceland these days. For some archaic and seasonal historical reasons, it is traditional to feast on some funky and fermented foodstuffs, like pickled lamb testicles, fermented shark bites, hang-smoaked meat and puréed turnips to name a few.
The coup de grace have got to be these: "Svið". It's basically a whole sheeps head/face, charbroiled by gas lamps. Allegedly a delicacy, eyeballs et al.
Yeah....but no.
