MonoMonday: Mail

An exercise in creative writing using a quill style ink pen from about 100 years ago.  This one is a slim travel pen, which features a retractable nib, as well as a retractable pencil and a small retractable pen knife.  It is very much showing its age now, and its a swine to try to write anything with, but its a historic curiosity with significance for family members.

The last couple of days have been spent finishing off cleaning Dad's house, and getting various other things ready for a stay by my brother and his family.  They are coming over from the USA shortly and will need to self-isolate for 2 weeks, so they will be housebound once they arrive.  

Dad is 89 and now and has moved to a Care Home, which, much to all our surprise he seems to be quite enjoying now.  Sadly he has Parkinsons and over the last few years has become less and less able to look after himself.  Hoovering and dusting isn't something that has occupied his time in recent years, so there's been a bit to do.  

I had thought that I had cleaned most things, but I realised today that I hadn't moved the lounge furniture and the seat cushions on the sofa etc.  It really is quite amazing how much stuff ends up in a sofa, sadly it was mainly bits of biscuit, crisps, buttons, paperclips and the like.  There was no winning lottery ticket or pile of large denomination bank notes ;-)
