It Was A Dark And Stormy Night

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellows,

See, this is what Punky does. This is how he is. He'll come and ask for his breakfast* but by the time I have put it into a bowl and turned around he has GONE.

DISAPPEARED.

Jasper will still be there. He is a good boy.

"If he doesn't want it, I'll have it," he says.

So I'll give Jasper HIS breakfast, then go wandering off, bowl in hand to find where Punky wants fed today. Here he is, having decided he wants his breakfast on the spare bed.

Sunday was pretty quiet. I have been working hard on the podcast. I say that. It is more like dicking about. I have discovered that my favourite thing is to create ambience. I love putting on sound effects and adding music.

The few listeners I have love it. They tweet me that my podcast sounds like an old-time radio show. And since I love those old shows too, I suppose it makes sense. So I am going all out on the latest episode which is about a trio of Hammer horror films and therefore lends itself to that sort of thing.

Therefore I spent most of this morning finding thunder storm sound effects, galloping horse effects, whip crack sound effects, bar room conversation, crackling fire and fiddle music.

SO. MUCH. FUN.

Unfortunately I now have to write actual words and do the presentation as well. Dammit.

This episode also contains a little sketch of two Victorian ladies talking about lesbians** so I perform the voices for that too. I basically did my best to channel Willie Rushton and Tim Brooke-Taylor when they would impersonate the Queen and Princess Margaret.

This is why the episodes are taking longer to produce. And honestly, I don't even know if anyone even cares. The important thing is that I'm having fun. And it is all about me.

** It makes sense in context.
