A Beginning

A beginning is better than an ending
unless that final act is unable,
by way of circumstance,
to lead to a new start.
A smile is better than a frown,
unless the downward curve
of your obstinate lips
is crowned with a sense of triumph.
The curvature of your spine
leads me to believe,
that all I will achieve in this life
will never touch your aching beauty.
The roads spin,
the wheels turn,
yet I’m left with just one thing:
I just want to be with you.
