Red List Yellowhammer

Ollie dog and I had a walk at Lodge Farm this afternoon. The harvest is well under way. I spotted this very scruffy yellowhammer in the area that I have seen them before. I was interested to read today that it was Enid Blyton who first said that their call sounds like, "A little bit of bread and no cheese." I heard them singing last time we were here but not today. They were common when I was a child but are in decline and on the RSPB Red List.
