Hummin’ Along
I hope everyone has enjoyed their Sunday. It’s been quiet around the homestead. No cars whizzing by (except for my hummer friend), no birdsong, or birds, no wind, no wind chimes...if not for the sound of a distant lawnmower it seemed like we were the only ones here. I think everyone’s tired, it’s the end of summer, school’s starting, we’re all searching for normalcy and the return to routine. Unfortunately that isn’t going to happen any time soon • As promised, here is “the recipe” for zuccchini-tini:
Coarsely grate a medium zucchini and mix with the juice of two lemons and two Tablespoons caster sugar. Steep for one hour. Put your martini glass in the refrigerator to chill for the same hour.
Strain the zucchini mixture in to a container and save. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add 25 ml of the zucchini syrup, followed by 25 ml vermouth, and 50 ml gin.
Stir gently until blended, strain in to the chilled martini glass. Garnish with mint, if desired, and serve.
Thank you for the cocktail, Miriam Nice!
Cheers to you all! If anyone tries this unique cocktail, please, please comment and let me /us know what you think of it. Surprisingly, it sounds pretty good!
