The Old Field Hospital, Waterloo
Another beautiful day, and after a very lazy morning we had a walk up to the Butte du Lion, stopping off at the Sunday morning brocante. We were quite amazed that the brocante was on, seeing as there's still snow on the ground and at lunch time it was -1 degrees. Needless to say, there weren't too many people around!
We didn't make any purchases, but saw some very interesting things including a huge golden Oscar statue! It was twice the size of Alan, and I really don't know who'd want to buy it, although we have friends who have a bar called Oscars, so I guess it would be quite a good gimmick for them.
We then met friends for a drink at the Cafe Wellington at the foot of the Butte du Lion. My friend Irene has made me something for my 365 blip on Tuesday so brought it with her - unfortunately she had a slight accident in transportation, but soon rectified the problem :-) All will be revealed!
Anyway, my blip for today is the old Field Hospital from the Battle of Waterloo which was established in the Mont St Jean farm to care for the wounded British soldiers. It has recently undergone a major renovation programme in readiness of the 200th anniversary of the battle in 2015.
We were both rather cold after walking home so we've had a very hot curry to warm us up, and are now relaxing in front of the TV waiting for the next snow fall. It's forecast a lot through the night tonight from about 10pm, so who knows what we'll wake up to tomorrow!
